Christina Anthony was the co-leading goal scorer on Gulf Coast’s first-ever women’s soccer state championship team, earning NJCAA All-American honors as a sophomore after two prolific seasons.

Starting at Gulf Coast in 2007, she made an immediate impact at Perkinston, scoring four goals in her first collegiate game against Andrew.

She had a hat trick in an 8-0 win over Southwest and help lead Gulf Coast to a tie for the 2007 MACJC South title with Meridian. Meridian would beat the Bulldogs 3-1 in the finals.

Gulf Coast won its semifinal matchup against Bossier City in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament but lost to Hinds 2-0 in the championship game. The Bulldogs finished the season with a 14-5-1 record.

Anthony finished her freshman year with 13 goals and three assists and elevated her game even more as a sophomore.

During her sophomore year, Gulf Coast would finish the regular season with a 9-0-1 record which won the South Division title and the right to host the MACJC Tournament. Anthony had a goal in a 3-1 win over Itawamba in the semifinals, and the Bulldogs exacted revenge against Hinds in a 3-0 win for the first MACJC women’s soccer championship in school history. Anthony put the exclamation mark on the day with a header off Ashley Harvey’s corner kick in the 55th minute for the final goal.

Anthony had 27 goals and 11 assists and shared the team’s Best Offensive Player award with Kelli Ranson. She also earned a spot on NJCAA All-American Second Team.

Anthony played one year of NCAA Division II soccer at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla.
