Randi Kay Bennett, of Gulfport, attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College from September 1974-May 1976. She graduated on May 14, 1976. In 1975, Bennett played on the first MGCJC women’s basketball team to be sanctioned by the Mississippi Association of Junior Colleges since 1955. In 1976, the members of the team became the first to bear the name “Lady Bulldogs.” She was also on the 1975 and 1976 Mississippi Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (MAIAW) state championship volleyball teams. The 1976 team was the last MAIAW team at MGCJC. Bennett, who has worked at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College since 2000, teaches health and physical education at the Jefferson Davis Campus. An avid outdoorsman, she loves to play golf and tennis, fish, camp, and SCUBA dive. She became a SCUBA diving instructor in 1992.  She is certified by the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) and by the Handicapped Scuba Association (HSA).
