Bio

James Sylton Cole

Perkinston Agricultural High School & Junior College (1948-1950) / Football
Pascagoula, Mississippi

A three-sport letterman at Perkinston Junior College, Cole was a member of the 1948 Co-National Championship football team. The Pascagoula native played guard and was placekicker, earning the nickname “the man with the talented toe.” At Perk, he set the college’s record for most extra points made in a two-year period. In 1949, he kicked the winning field goal against Decatur (now East Central) in the Laurel Lions Bowl. After college, Cole returned to Pascagoula, where he worked and retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding.
