Richard Huff

Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College (1967-1968) / Football
Moss Point, Mississippi

Richard Huff enrolled at MCGJC Perkinston Campus in September 1967 and he played offensive guard for Coach George Sekul. On Saturday, November 18, 1967, Huff was a member of the team that defeated Jones Junior College 39-21 at Milner Stadium in Gulfport. This game earned the Bulldogs a Mississippi Association of Junior Colleges championship trophy, the second one in a row. Bulldog dreams of winning the state championship three times in a row ended in another game against Jones on November 9, 1968, at Ellisville where the Bobcats beat the Bulldogs 43-7. At the end of the 1968 season, Huff was named to the Mississippi Association of Junior Colleges All-State Team, and he was picked as a guard on the South Mississippi All-Star Team. In 1973 when Coach George Sekul picked his “Team of the Decade,” highlighting his best players of the 1960s, he chose Huff as a guard on his mythical offensive team.
