Bio

Eddie Michel Khayat

Perkinston Agricultural High School & Junior College (1954-1955) / Football and Basketball
Pascagoula, Mississippi

Eddie Michel Khayat was 19 when he came to Perkinston. He would only stay a year, but he built a lifelong relationship with the college.

Khayat was a fast learner and was starting on both offense and defense by the first game. It was his defense that would be the foundation of Khayat's long football career. He graduated from Perk in 1955 and only two years later, he was playing defensive tackle in the NFL.

Years later, at a ceremony in 1971, Khayat recounted how much his time at Perk meant. "We had a coach at Perkinston named Harold White, a real important man in my life. ... That's where I became a man."

Khayat would play 10 seasons of professional football and earn a World Championship with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1960. Khayat would put on the pads for the last time as a player in 1966, but he has never left the gridiron.

As of 2003, he had been coaching pro football for 25 years in both the NFL and the Arena Football League.
