Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (2015-2016) / Softball
Gulfport, Mississippi

Kaitlin R. Lee, recruited from Harrison Central High School’s softball team, played for the Bulldogs from 2015-2016. She left Perkinston as the greatest softball player in school history.

She went 20-4 as a freshman, notching three saves and a 1.79 ERA. The Lady Bulldogs swept the Mississippi Association of Junior and Community Colleges Tournament title in three games, and she won all three games including pitching 8.1 innings of relief in a 4-2 win over East Central in the winners’ bracket finals. Gulf Coast would win one game at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Tournament and finishes ninth in the country. Lee was named All-MACJC for her efforts in the circle, as well as at the plate where she had a .373 batting average, second-best on the team. She also earned All-Region 23 honors.

Lee went 22-4 in her sophomore year with a 0.84 ERA, second-best in the country. She struck out 138 batters and allowed only 94 hits in 167 innings and posted a perfect game against Southern Union. She was again strong at the plate, hitting .369 with 17 doubles and only three strikeouts in 168 at-bats. She was named MACJC Pitcher of the Year and earned spots on the All-Region 23 and NJCAA All-American Second Team.

She became the first MACJC player to sign with a Southeastern Conference school when she went to Ole Miss, and she was named Most Valuable Player of the Southeastern Conference Tournament after pitching every inning of the Rebels’ four-game sweep to the title, allowing only two runs.

She pitched three shutouts to win the Oxford Regional, then threw 10.2 innings in an 8-7 loss to UCLA at the Los Angeles Super Regional opener.

She set six Ole Miss single-season records in 2017, including wins (23), complete games (27), shutouts (10), innings pitched (249.2), appearances (44) and starts (37). In two seasons, she put together the greatest career of any pitcher in Ole Miss history, ranking in the top-10 in eight career categories.

She was selected by the Aussie Spirit in the National Pro Fastpitch draft, but returned to Ole Miss to be a graduate assistant. In 2019, Lee became the pitching coach at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.
