Perkinston Junior College (1965-67) / Football
Biloxi, Mississippi

Dennis “Danny Boy” Parker played football at Perkinston Junior College during the 1965 and 1966 seasons. A graduate of Notre Dame High School in Biloxi, he played football at the college on a month-to-month scholarship that was determined based on his enthusiasm.

During his sophomore year, the football team won its first state championship since 1948. The Bulldogs also beat Pearl River Community College for the first time in 18 years and went on to win the Shrine Bowl in Shreveport.

That year, Parker was chosen to play in the Mississippi Junior College All-Star Game in Jackson. He was also awarded the C.S. Wentzell Trophy by Head Coach George Sekul for his contributions to the team in sportsmanship, positive attitude, and effectiveness.

He was chosen by Coach Sekul as a member of the defense team for the Decade of the 60s.

Briefly on the college’s swimming team, as a fill-in for one meet only, he won three medals in one day.

A welder, Parker was a member of the Local Union 568. He worked all over the country, including Alaska before returning home to work as maintenance leader at Boomtown Casino. He has since retired.
