Kelli Ranson
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (2008-09) / Soccer
Ocean Springs, Mississippi
Kelli Ranson of Ocean Springs helped Gulf Coast win its first-ever Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges women’s soccer championship in 2008 with her high-scoring play, and she left Perkinston with 47 goals and 28 assists to her credit.
She arrived with a talented freshman class, and her offensive talent was on display frequently in 2008. She scored four times in an 8-0 win over Jones at Perk and had three goals, a hat trick, in a 9-1 win over Copiah-Lincoln.
Ranson finished the season tied with teammate Tina Anthony for the MACJC lead with 27 goals. That was ninth-most in the NJCAA. Ranson also led the conference with 14 assists, which tied for 11th-most in the country.
Two more of Ranson’s hat tricks as a sophomore helped Gulf Coast to an 8-0 win over East Central and another in an 11-0 win against the teams’ second meeting. She also had a pair of goals in games against Northwest and Copiah-Lincoln.
She earned her second All-NJCAA Region 23 selection after scoring 20 goals, second-most in the MACJC. Her 14 assists tied for second in the league and ranked 15th in the country.
