Bio

Dana Sharp, MS, ATC, is in her sixth year as Gulf Coast’s head athletic trainer, but her roots at Perk go even further back.

Before she got the position in 2015, Sharp had spent most of the previous 10 years in the athletic department in various capacities. She graduated from Stone High in 2004 and spent the next two years as a student athletic trainer.

Sharp took her associate’s degree from Perk to Southern Miss, where she was a student athletic trainer for the Golden Eagles’ football, women’s basketball and tennis teams.

After graduating with a bachelor’s in athletic training in 2008, she spent the next two years as a graduate assistant at Gulf Coast. Sharp finished her master’s in sports management in 2010 was hired by Encore Rehabilitation, where she was the athletic trainer as Pass Christian High School for a year before returning to Gulf Coast as an assistant trainer under Danny Anderson for four years.

She is in charge of a state-of-the-art athletic training facility featuring taping and treatment tables, electrical stimulation machines, ultrasound machines, Game Ready systems, rehabilitation exercise equipment, a cold tub and ice baths.

Encore Rehabilitation provides the athletic trainers and a physical therapist. The company has worked with Gulf Coast since 2000.

Sharp is married to her husband Bradly, and they have two children: Bree, 13, and Brody, 4.
