Austin Barton begins his first season on the Gulf Coast coaching staff in 2023-24 after spending two seasons at the NCAA Division I level.

He was a graduate assistant at the University of New Orleans from 2021-23, where he handled video and facilities duties, as well as helping to run team practices and workouts. Barton helped the Privateers reach the Southland Conference Tournament semifinals.

He was an assistant coach the previous season at his alma mater, Crown College in Saint Bonifacius, Minn. Barton had played four seasons for the Polars, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communication. He earned a master’s in hotel, restaurant and tourism management at UNO.
