Early goals lead to Gulf Coast rout of Co-Lin

PERKINSTON — Jordan Hall scored the early opening goal Mississippi Gulf Coast was looking for Friday, and the Bulldogs romped past Copiah-Lincoln 7-0.

Hall (5-9, 163, Fr., Royton and Crompton/Manchester, England) finished with a hat trick at the MGCCC Soccer Complex.

"We accomplished our goal," Gulf Coast coach Chris Handy said. "It let the rest of the guys relax. We knocked it around, and everybody got to play. That's what I'm most pleased about."

The Bulldogs (4-1, 3-0 MACJC South) needed a late flurry of goals to win their previous outing, and he hoped the early score would relieve the pressure.

Gulf Coast opened the scoring less than two minutes in on Hall's blast. He followed it with a second in the 16th minute on a pass from James Beattie (5-7, 155, So., Williamwood/Glasgow, Scotland) that created a breakaway.

Caleb Counselman (5-10, 160, Fr., Pass Christian/Pass Christian) got a goal before Tylor Davis (6-0, 164, Fr., West Harrison/Gulfport) got to the end line and found Beattie for a 4-0 halftime lead.

Hall completed his hat trick in the first minute of the second half after a pass from Liam Eadsforth (5-11, 145, Fr., The Radclyffe School/Manchester, England) and was quickly followed by Aarin Johnson (6-2, 290, Fr., The Cottesloe School/London).

Hall returned the favor from Eadsforth in the 56th minute, lofting a perfect pass into the six-yard box for the seventh goal on a header.

Beattie finished with a goal and three assists.
