PERKINSTON — No. 8 Mississippi Gulf Coast demolished Copiah-Lincoln 7-0 Friday and clinched a berth in the MACCC playoffs.
Fabien Barker (Fr., Madison/Madison Central) notched his second hat trick of the season, and Abdul Omar (Fr., Madison/Germantown) set a new career-best with three assists in addition to scoring a penalty kick.
Gulf Coast (9-2, 6-2 MACCC South) remains tied with Pearl River atop the division, with Jones a game back. The Bulldogs also got coach Chris Handy his 99th career victory. He has a chance to pick up No. 100 on Monday at Southwest Mississippi.
Christian Inchima (So., Brampton Ontario/St. Edmond Campion) had a goal and an assist, as did James Redmond (So., Bremen, Germany/Oberschule Roter Sand). Joey Green (Fr., Pascagoula/Resurrection) also picked up an assist.
