No. 15 Bulldogs edge No. 16 Eagles

No. 15 Mississippi Gulf Coast beat No. 16 Meridian in two doubles matches and made that advantage stand up in a 5-4 win in Meridian.

The Bulldogs (13-1, 11-1 MACCC) completed a regular-season sweep of the Eagles (10-5, 7-4) to win their sixth straight match.

Paul Gayk (Fr., Muelheim an der Ruhr, Germany/Berufskolleg Lehnerstrasse) and Anderson Dulaney (So., Long Beach/Long Beach) dominated at No. 2 doubles, winning 8-0. Alex King (So., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs) and Kyle Bond (Fr., Wiggins/Stone) were nearly as dominant at No. 3, winning 8-2.

Dulaney, King and Clay Fudge won their singles matches as the teams split the six courts evenly.

The ITA NJCAA Men's National Rankings were released earlier Wednesday, and the Bulldogs maintained their spot. They'll turn right around and play Northeast Mississippi on Thursday at the MGCCC Tennis Complex. First serves are set for 2 p.m.
