MGCCC loses to Jones
OXFORD, Ala. — Mississippi Gulf Coast couldn't get its bats going Wednesday in another showdown with archrival Jones, and the Bulldogs fell into the losers' bracket after a 4-1 loss.
Seventh-seeded Gulf Coast (34-15) will play ninth-seeded Murray State (41-11) in an elimination game scheduled for 8 p.m. at Choccolocco Park.
After Jones scored using a walk and a couple of dink singles in the first inning, Rakeya Travis (So., Poplarville/Poplarville) led off the second with a single. She scored on an RBI groundout by K.K. Agner (Fr., Horn Lake/Magnolia Heights).
Jones added a single run in the third and two more in the seventh, limiting Gulf Coast to two hits.
