Bulldogs go 4-0 in 27 hours

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast won two more games Thursday, capping off a busy 27-hour stretch that saw the Bulldogs go 4-0.

Gulf Coast beat Mississippi Delta 13-1 in five innings and 9-5 in the second, the first two games at Ross-Smith Field in more than two weeks. The Bulldogs had won a pair of games Wednesday against Southwest Mississippi in Summit the day before.

Karley Rouse (So., D'Iberville/D'Iberville) threw a three-hitter to win the first game, striking out four. She needed just 76 pitches, throwing 54 strikes.

Aleah Beaugez (So., D'Iberville/D'Iberville) went 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBI to pace the offense. Annaston Tate (Fr., Waynesboro/Wayne County) had two hits, including a triple, and Savannah Wilbanks had two hits with a double.

Irina Sanford (So., Lucedale/George County) had two RBI.

Emma Thomas had a triple and a double, and Wilbanks had two hits, including a double, to drive in three runs. Brooklyn Mitchell (Fr., Gulfport/St. Patrick) had two hits and two RBI, and Caroline Batson (Fr., Wiggins/Stone) drove in two runs.

Olivia Falcon (So., St. Amant, La./St. Amant) struck out five in 4.1 innings for the win. Brooklynn Peterson (Fr., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs) didn't allow an earned run in 2.2 innings of relief.

Gulf Coast has extra time off after its weekend series was moved up two days to beat the weather. The Bulldogs host Jones on Tuesday, with first pitch set for 3 p.m.
