Sanford, Tate lead 6 All-MACCC Bulldogs

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast placed six players on the All-MACCC softball team, including Irina Sanford and Annaston Tate on the First Team.

The team, selected by the conference's coaches, also included four Bulldogs on the Second Team: Caroline Batson, Brooklyn Mitchell, Karley Rouse and Abby Lindsey.

Sanford, a sophomore outfielder from Lucedale, finished 11th in the MACCC with a .456 on-base percentage in league play. She batted a team-best .352 with 19 RBI, and her .383 average in conference play was 13th-best.

Tate, a freshman catcher from Waynesboro, batted .298 with seven doubles and 28 RBI.

Batson, a freshman outfielder from Wiggins, batted .342. She had seven doubles and 23 RBI, and she was plunked seven times in MACCC play, the second-most in the conference.

Mitchell, a freshman shortstop from Gulfport, batted .298 with a home run, seven doubles and 24 RBI. Her four triples were eight-most in the conference.

Rouse, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from D'Iberville, went 16-8 with a 2.20 ERA in 149.1 innings. She was third in the MACCC in complete games (18), fourth in shutouts (5), fifth in wins, and seventh in ERA.

Lindsey, a freshman designated hitter from Decatur, Ala., batted .344 with four home runs and 25 RBI despite playing in just over half the Bulldogs' games.
