Simmons named MACJC Player of the Week

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast forward Kayla Simmons has been named MACJC Player of the Week for her performances in two Lady Bulldogs victories last week.

The Brandon freshman had double-doubles in both, averaging 17.5 points and 14.5 rebounds while shooting 77.3 percent from the field.

In a 78-69 win over East Central, Simmons had 21 points, 16 rebounds and three steals. It was MGCCC's first MACJC South victory since Feb. 2017.

In a 70-36 win over Delgado, she had 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Simmons is now eligible for the NJCAA Division I Player of the Week award.
