Bulldogs go cold down the stretch at MDCC

Mississippi Gulf Coast saw an early second-half lead disappear Friday afternoon on the way to a 46-39 defeat to Mississippi Delta at Moorhead.

It was the first loss of the season in MACCC women's basketball action for the Bulldogs (9-7, 3-1 MACCC).

Taelar Felton (Fr., Clinton/Clinton) led Gulf Coast with 15 points, and Dekyra Mitchell (Fr., Durant/Holmes County) added 10.

Gulf Coast broke a 20-20 tie with a 10-2 run to start the second half. The Trojans (13-1, 3-1) closed the gap before the end of the third quarter and led 34-33 headed into the fourth.

The Bulldogs rallied from a five-point deficit to tie the game at 39 with 5:25 left, but didn't score again.

Gulf Coast returns to Dantzler Arena on Monday to play Northeast Mississippi. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
