MGCCC looking to build momentum on road

Mississippi Gulf Coast has a tough break in between their MACJC South Division schedule, with a pair of road games on back-to-back days.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-6, 2-3 MACJC South) face Itawamba (1-5, 0-4 MACJC North) on Friday, followed by Northwest (3-4-1, 1-3 MACJC North).

There been extra drudgery in the days leading up to the contests.

"We've worked on a lot of fitness this week trying to prepare for this back-to-back game in the middle of the day," Gulf Coast interim head coach Jackie Rhodes said. "We've really worked hard on trying to prepare them for that by doing extra running after practice. We're trying to get their mindset that it will be back-to-back games."

Gulf Coast is coming off a 6-0 demolition of Southwest, a game that saw the Lady Bulldogs exceed their previous scoring output for the season.

Moriah Minnis had a hat trick in the game, with Abigail Smith getting her first two goals of the season.

Rhodes is hoping things are turning around for her team.

"I think they're peaking at the right time," she said. "I've some goals set for them for the next week. I want us to win the next four games."
