Steede wins MACCC Keeper of the Week

PERKINSTON — Skyler Steede had two great games for the Mississippi Gulf Coast women's soccer team, and she was recognized by the conference for it Tuesday.

Steede, a freshman from Lucedale, stopped eight of nine shots in a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs to win MACCC Keeper of the Week. The award is voted on by the conference's sports information directors.

She had five saves in a 4-1 win over Southwest in Perkinston. Steede followed that with a 2-0 shutout over archrival Pearl River in Poplarville.

It's the first Player of the Week honor for a Gulf Coast player this season. Steede is eligible for the NJCAA award.
