Bulldogs fall to Meridian on late goal

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast dominated possession against the Meridian women's soccer team Tuesday, but a late counterattack gave the Eagles a 1-0 win at Bary Thrash Field.

Meridian (6-5-1, 4-1-1 MACCC South) scored with 9:56 left to play to grab a key division win and sweep the season series.

Gulf Coast falls to 5-5, 3-3. The Bulldogs missed an opportunity to move past the Eagles into second in the South but maintained their hold on third place.

Gulf Coast is back at home Friday when No. 2 Jones visits Perkinston. Kickoff is at 5 p.m., and the game will be streamed at https://livestream.com/mgcccbulldogs/events/9887557.
