Coleman snags MACCC Player of the Week

PERKINSTON — A'Leigh Coleman nearly backstopped an upset last week, then went on to record her first collegiate shutout.

The MACCC noticed and named her conference Keeper of the Week.

The freshman from Ocean Springs made life tough for No. 15 East Central, which had to rally to win 2-1. She stopped seven of nine shots by the Warriors.

On Sunday, Coleman blanked St. Louis 4-0. She recorded three saves to register her first clean sheet to finish the week with a 0.50 goals-against average.

Coleman is now eligible for NJCAA Player of the Week, which will be announced Wednesday.

The Bulldogs open MACCC play Friday when Hinds visits Bary Thrash Field. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m., and tickets are available at http://mgcccbulldogs.com/tickets. The game will be streamed at https://mgcccbulldogs.com/watch.
