Hoefer, Conley named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Paul Hoefer and Laurel Conley have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Oct. 6-12.

Hoefer, a freshman from Heidelberg, Germany, won a three-man playoff on the second hole to claim medalist at the Jim Redgate Invitational. He finished 3-under and helped No. 3 Gulf Coast to a 20-shot victory in Meridian.

Conley, a sophomore keeper from Ocean Springs, had 16 saves to backstop a 1-0-1 week for No. 9 Mississippi Gulf Coast against top-5 teams. She had a four-save shutout to beat No. 5 Jones 1-0 at Perkinston. In a 2-2 tie at No. 1 Northwest Mississippi, she stopped 12 shots.

Also nominated:

Kaleb Arterberry, a freshman linebacker from Pearl, made his three tackles count in a 27-3 win over East Central. He had two tackles for loss, including a 14-yard sack.

Millie Jebb-Geer, a sophomore defender from Dronfield, England, played a part in all three goals for Gulf Coast. She assisted the only goal against No. 5 Jones at Perkinston, and had an assist on the second goal in the tie at No. 1 Northwest Mississippi. She also set up the first goal with a dangerous free kick that wound up deflecting off a Rangers player for the first goal. Jebb-Geer's contribution on the back line helped hold the country's second-highest scoring team more than five goals under their average.

Malorie Gaughf, a freshman middle blocker from Gulfport, had 25 kills in three matches. She also had 10 blocks, both of which led the Bulldogs.

Aiden Guinn, a freshman kicker from Wiggins, was perfect on his attempts against East Central. He made both his field goal attempts, including a 34-yarder, and all three extra points.

Cambell Herrington, a freshman defensive libero from Brandon, led Gulf Coast with 45 digs in three matches.

Ben Myrick, a freshman defender from Hurley, scored twice in Gulf Coast's 5-1 win at Northwest Mississippi.

Alan Woods, a freshman running back from Jacksonville, Fla., piled up 189 total yards against East Central. He ran 23 times for 151 yards (6.6 avg.) and caught three passes for 38 yards.
