Sorrells, Palacios named Bulldogs of the Week
PERKINSTON — Reese Sorrells and Stiward Palacios have been named Bulldogs of the Week of the week of Aug. 18-24.
Sorrells, a freshman opposite hitter from Picayune, helped lead Gulf Coast to its first volleyball victory of the modern era, a 3-1 win at Coastal Alabama-South, with six kills and seven blocks.
Palacios, a freshman defender from Medellin, Colombia, scored a powerful header for No. 12 Gulf Coast in the win over No. 9 Johnson County.
Also nominated:
Omarion Brown, a freshman from Linstead, Jamaica, stopped all 10 shots he faced to post a 1-0 shutout of No. 9 Johnson County.
Laurel Conley, a sophomore from Ocean Springs, stopped three shots to help the Bulldogs post a shutout of Southern Union.
Malorie Gaughf, a freshman from Gulfport, had 11 blocks to help lead Gulf Coast against Coastal Alabama-South.
Anna Katherine Thriffiley, a freshman midfielder from Biloxi, had a goal and an assist in the Bulldogs' 3-0 season-opening win over Southern Union.
