Bulldogs fall to PRCC

Mississippi Gulf Coast dropped its men's soccer game to Pearl River in Poplarville on Friday night 2-1.

"They scored on two corner kicks, which is disappointing because that was a point of emphasis going into the game," Gulf Coast coach Chris Handy said. "Obviously, it sometimes takes something like that to get the kids' attention."

The Bulldogs (2-2, 0-1 MACJC South) got its goal from James Beattie, who hit a bomb in the top corner of the net from 25 yards out. The team also tightened up its defense after a shaky 5-3 win over East Central on Tuesday.

"The good news is we marked better," Handy said. "We played well in the first half; second half, not so much. We'll build on this and continue the run in the South."

The Wildcats remained unbeaten after three games by winning their South opener.

Gulf Coast returns to action Tuesday in Perkinston. The Bulldogs play Copiah-Lincoln at 7 p.m.
