PERKINSTON — The No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast Women's Tennis team stayed unbeaten Friday with a quick 9-0 win over Northeast Mississippi.

The Bulldogs dropped only three games on nine courts at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.

"They started out hot right out of the gate," Gulf Coast coach Sam Blackburn said. "In doubles, they played loose and free. I'm proud of them for taking care of business."

Gulf Coast improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in MACCC play, remaining in a tie for first place.

Danique Vermue (So., 's-Heerenhoek, Netherlands/Scheldemon College) and Valeria Callejo-Vivar (So., Madrid, Spain/I.E.S. Ortega y Gasset) won No. 1 doubles, and Isona Arnaus (Fr., Barcelona, Spain/Centre Lopez Vicuna) teamed with Lauren Sullivan (So., Laurel/Laurel Christian) to win No. 2 doubles. Those four players didn't drop a game all afternoon.

Gulf Coast's Sunday exhibition against Millsaps has moved up to 9 a.m. to try to beat forecasted rain.
