Irving, Arnaus named Bulldogs of the Week
PERKINSTON — Kaden Irving and Isona Arnaus have been named Bulldogs of the Week for March 3-9.
Irving, a sophomore corner infielder from Gautier, batted .462 during a 3-1 week for Gulf Coast. He went 4-for-4 with a home run and five RBI in a 15-9 win over Mississippi Delta in Raymond. He also had two hits in a 6-2 win over Hinds.
Arnaus, a freshman from Barcelona, Spain, easily won both her matches for No. 12 Gulf Coast. She didn't drop a game in a straight-set win over Co-Lin's No. 3 singles opponent and teamed with Lauren Sullivan to win No. 2 doubles 8-2.
Also nominated:
Nick Dulaney, a freshman from Long Beach, won both his matches for No. 12 Gulf Coast. He beat Co-Lin's No. 4 singles opponent 6-1, 6-1, and teamed with Connor Hartfield to win 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Olivia Falcon, a freshman from St. Amant, La., went 1-1 with a save and struck out 18 in 13.2 innings for Gulf Coast. She threw a one-hitter to beat Kankakee 8-0 in five innings, striking out nine. Falcon picked up a save with two scoreless innings in a 4-1 win at Hinds.
Samuel Marsh, a sophomore righty from Monroe, La., struck out 11 in a six-inning start for Mississippi Gulf Coast. He allowed just three hits in a 6-2 win at Hinds.
John Mark Mills, a sophomore from Pontotoc, tied for second with teammate Stanley Campbell at the Chris Clark Invitational in Philadelphia. They helped rally No. 1 Gulf Coast to a playoff win over Meridian.
Emma Thomson, a sophomore first baseman from Sulphur, La., batted .438 and hit a home run for Gulf Coast. She hit a three-run homer in a 6-3 loss at Hinds, and also had a double and triple during the week.
