PERKINSTON – The Mississippi Gulf Coast women's soccer team opens its home regular-season schedule Tuesday when East Central pays a visit for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
The Lady Bulldogs are still looking for their first win after two contest, but the trend line has been in the right direction.
"We're getting better. We're getting healthy," Gulf Coast interim coach Jackie Rhodes said. "Our intensity level is something we've been focusing on really hard, and it's gotten a lot better. They're enjoying it a little bit more. We're getting through these tough games, finding out who we are a little bit."
The Lady Warriors (3-0) defeated Southwest 3-0 on Thursday to remain unbeaten. Rhodes expects a hard-working team that has talent, and she's betting on an evenly matched contest.
"I know they're going to play a lot of high pressure soccer, which is something we really haven't seen a whole lot so far," she said. "We're really going to concentrate on spreading the field out, making sure we're shifting left to right together. The way to catch them off guard is in transition."
The Lady Bulldogs open MACJC South Division play Friday at Pearl River.
