No. 3 Bulldogs jump out to lead after 1st round

PERKINSTON — For the second straight week, No. 3 Mississippi Gulf Coast went under par double-digits in the first round of an MACJC tournament.

 

Wyatt Adkison (5-7, 210, so., East Central/Hurley) fired a 4-under 68, with Jonathon Newman (5-9, 135, so., North Pike/Summit), Jackson Wedgeworth (6-2, fr., West Jones/Soso) and Logan Leary (5-11, 120, fr., Gonzales/Dutchtown, La.) all shooting 3-under in Southaven. The Bulldogs' finished 13-under, one shot higher than last week in the first state event in Wesson.

 

They lead Copiah-Lincoln by nine shots. Co-Lin's Brandon Blakney shot 67 to sit in first place in the individual standings.

 

Gulf Coast's Colby Entriken (6-0, 160, fr., Hancock/Pass Christian), whose score was thrown out for the team total, shot a 74.
