No. 3 MGCCC six shots off lead at MACJC tourney
No. 3 Mississippi Gulf Coast finds itself in an unfamiliar place in the third MACJC event of the season. The Bulldogs trail Copiah-Lincoln by six shots after the first round in Raymond on Saturday.
Logan Leary (5-11, 120, fr., Gonzales/Dutchtown, La.) led Gulf Coast in third place in the individual standings with a 2-under 70, but the team finds itself looking up in the standings for the first time in an MACJC tournament this year. The Bulldogs wound up with a 292, 4-over par.
Co-Lin had golfers 1-2-T3 in the individual standings, with Gulf Coast next in T3-T5-T5 thanks to Colby Blake (5-11, 155, fr., Parklane/Tylertown) and Jonathon Newman (5-9, 135, so., North Pike/Summit). Blake, however, was playing as an individual and his card did not count toward the team score.
Colby Entriken (6-0, 160, fr., Hancock/Pass Christian) is tied for seventh at 1-over.
The teams conclude the two-day, 36-hole tournament at Eagle Ridge Golf Club on Sunday.
