PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast battled No. 6 Jones County tough until halftime before falling 86-54 Monday at the Weathers/Wentzell Center.
Keiara Williams (So, New Orleans/Warren Easton) led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points. Azaria Howard (Fr, Richland/Richland) added 13.
Gulf Coast falls to 5-8, 0-5 MACJC South. Jones is 12-2, 5-0.
Gulf Coast used a 9-2 run to close out the first quarter and trail 12-9. The Lady Bulldogs then had an 11-4 run at the end of the half to trail 28-22.
The Lady Bobcats outscored MGCCC 35-17 in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Gulf Coast returns to action Thursday at archrival Pearl River. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs' next home game is Saturday when Baton Rouge visits for a 2 p.m. tip.
