PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast nearly fought all the way back from an 11-point halftime deficit, but the Bulldogs took a 50-47 loss to East Mississippi at Dantzler Arena on Thursday.
Keela Bryan (So., Brunswick, Ga./Camden County) had 20 points, including a pair of big 3-pointers coming down the stretch.
Down 46-41 with 1:42 left, Bryan nailed a 3 from the left wing. After Brianna Black (Fr., Olive Branch/Olive Branch) made a free throw, Bryan buried another with 36.3 left to cut the lead down to 46-47.
The Lions (3-2) made a pair of free throws with 13.8 seconds left for a 49-46 lead. Gulf Coast got a good look for a tying 3-pointer, but EMCC rebounded with 9 seconds left and iced it.
The Bulldogs (2-2), who played without starting point guard Taelar Felton, will play at Coastal Alabama-South on Nov. 20.
