No. 12 Men’s Tennis downs No. 22 Eagles

PERKINSTON — No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast bounced back Thursday from its first men's tennis conference loss with a big win over No. 22 Hinds.

The Bulldogs jumped past the Eagles 7-2 at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.

Gulf Coast (5-2, 5-1 MACCC) swept the doubles matches, with Gonzalo Cotter (Fr., Valencia, Spain/IVLA) and Vicente Faria (Fr., Lisbon, Portugal/Escola Secundária de Fonseca Benevides) winning 8-1 at No. 1. Jeremiah Layton (Fr., Brookhaven/Brookhaven) and Hiram Havard (So., Vancleave/Vancleave) dropped only three games at No. 3.

Triston Hill (So., Perkinston/Stone) dominated at No. 4 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1.

Gulf Coast makes a big road trip to Texas this weekend. The Bulldogs play five matches against top-six teams over four days in Tyler, starting Sunday against No. 1 Cowley County.

They also play No. 2 Tyler, No. 3 Eastern Florida State, No. 4 Collin County and No. 6 Pratt.
