Meet The Teams scheduled for Jan. 10

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast will hold its spring semester Meet The Teams event Jan. 10 at Dantzler Arena.

The event will start at 6 p.m. with the Bulldogs' baseball, softball, golf and tennis teams being introduced. The Cheerleaders and Perkettes will also take center stage as their sendoff before heading to their national championships.

The Perkinston Campus bookstore will be open until 6:30 for fans to stop by and pick up Gulf Coast gear.

Coach Bob Keller's baseball Bulldogs have added a lot of firepower to their lineup and are looking for big things in 2024. Gulf Coast hosts Baton Rouge at Ken "Curly" Farris Field on Jan. 26 to start its season.

Coach David Kuhn's softball team finished 2023 strong in the Region 23 Tournament, and the Bulldogs get their season started on the road on Feb. 2. They'll be playing in the Mardi Gras Invitational in Youngsville, La., with the MGCCC Invitational Feb. 9-10 opening play at Ross-Smith Field.

Coach Brad Thornton's golf team finished fifth in the country in 2023 and are ranked first in the nation this year. They won four straight events to close out the fall schedule and play in the Gulf Coast Invitational Feb. 5-6 at Diamondhead Golf Club.

Coach Sam Blackburn's men's tennis team won the Region 23 title in 2023, and the women were region runners-up. The teams start play Jan. 26 when Loyola University-New Orleans visits Perk.

The Bulldogs cheerleaders are coached by Brittney Holley. They'll be competing in the Universal Cheerleaders Association College Nationals on Jan. 12-14 in Orlando at Walt Disney World.

The Perkettes are coached by Taylor Scott, and they'll compete in the Universal Dance Association College Nationals on Jan. 12-14 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
