Harrell, Jackson named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Jett Harrell and Dom Jackson have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Jan. 23-Feb. 4.

Harrell, a sophomore pitcher/outfielder from Clarksdale, batted .714 during Gulf Coast's 3-1 trip to the Mardi Gras Invitational in Younsgville, La. She had hits in all four games, including the home run to beat Lamar State-Port Arthur 1-0 and a 4-for-4 performance in a loss to National Park. She also allowed only two earned runs in 13 IP while going 1-1 in the circle.

Jackson, a freshman outfielder/designated hitter from Gulf Breeze, Fla., homered in each game of a 3-0 week for Gulf Coast. He batted .600 for the week with a .692 OBP and 1.600 slugging percentage. Jackson drove in nine runs.

Also nominated:

Tytiana Buckley, a sophomore guard from Meridian, had two more strong games to help keep Gulf Coast undefeated in MACCC play. She was a bucket short of a double-double in a 56-44 win at Jones, scoring eight points with 13 rebounds. She poured in 19 points in a 57-49 win over Mississippi Delta.

Adrian Byrd, a sophomore lefty from Wiggins, struck out five in five innings to earn 9-2 win over Enterprise State. He allowed one run and scattered five hits.

John Davis, a sophomore guard from Pascagoula, finished a strong week with a shooting clinic in a convincing win over Mississippi Delta. He had 12 points coming off the bench in a loss at Jones and made 4-of-6 3-pointers on the way to 17 points in a 104-83 win Delta. He dished out six assists against the Trojans.

Olivia Falcon, a freshman righty from St. Amant, La., allowed just one unearned run while going 2-0 at the Mardi Gras Invitational. She shut out Lamar State-Port Arthur 1-0 on a five-hitter and allowed two hits in four innings to beat Pratt 13-3.
