2 Smiths named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Kade Smith and Kyla Smith have been named Bulldogs of the Week for the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 3.

Kade Smith, a freshman forward from London, England, had three goals and an assist in a 1-0-1 week for Mississippi Gulf Coast. He had the Bulldogs first two goals in a 3-3 tie at No. 5 Jones, then had a goal and an assist in a 5-0 win over Andrew College.

Kyla Smith, a freshman from Hurley, scored both goals in Gulf Coast's only action of last week, beating Pensacola State 2-0 on the road. She's a repeat winner of the award.

Also nominated:

David Ruiz Ospina, a freshman from Manizales, Colombia, made nine saves to backstop Mississippi Gulf Coast to a 1-0-1 week. He had seven saves in a 3-3 tie at No. 5 Jones, then made two saves in a 5-0 win over Andrew College.

A'Leigh Coleman, a sophomore keeper from Ocean Springs, stopped 2 shots in a 2-0 shutout at Pensacola State.
