Warren named new Athletic Academic Advisor

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast has added Brooks Warren as its new Athletic Academic Advisor, looking to plug into his experience as a player at the community college and four-year levels. He's also coached and served in athletic administration already in his young professional career.

He has strong family ties in MACCC athletic administration circles. His grandmother, Rene' Warren, was the first female athletic director in the Mississippi community college system. She had a distinguished career as a basketball, softball and volleyball coach at Hinds starting in 1966, taking on duties as assistant athletic director in 1978. Nine years later, she was chosen to lead the department.

Brooks Warren was an All-MACCC pitcher at East Central Community College, where he was the team's Co-Pitcher of the Year. He also earned a spot on the NJCAA National Baseball Team which competed at the NBC World Series. He was also selected by the New York Mets in the 18th round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

He went on to play at Southern Miss in 2019 and closed out his collegiate career at Mississippi College. While at MC, he earned a spot on the Gulf South Conference All-Academic Honor Roll.

Warren returned to his alma mater where he worked as a graduate assistant athletic director and assistant softball coach. He also worked in turf management for the physical plant and as a student services assistant.

Warren graduated from ECCC with an associate's degree. He completed a bachelor's in kinesiology and a master's in intercollegiate athletic administration while at Mississippi College.
