Fields, Smith named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Simaru Fields and Omarion Smith have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Jan. 1-7

Simaru Fields, a sophomore guard from Pass Christian, averaged 17.5 points. 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists during a 1-1 week for Mississippi Gulf Coast. She poured in 23 points with eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals in an 89-47 win over Arkansas Mid-South. In a 64-61 loss at No. 19 Chipola, Fields had 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Omarion Smith, a sophomore forward from Atlanta, Ga., had a 26-point, 13-rebound double-double in a 143-69 drubbing of the Royal Ambassadors. He made 11-of-19 shots from the field and all four free throws while also picking up four assists and four steals.
