Thriffiley, Henderson named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Anna Katherine Thriffiley and Tyler Henderson have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Sept. 15-21.

Thriffiley, a freshman midfielder from Biloxi, scored three times during a perfect 2-0 week for No. 19 Gulf Coast. She had a goal in a 3-1 win over Meridian, then scored two goals to break a tie at No. 14 Pearl River in a 3-2 win.

Henderson, a sophomore wide receiver from Vicksburg, had eight catches for 180 yards and two scores in No. 5 Gulf Coast's 40-23 win over Southwest Mississippi on Homecoming. He leads the NJCAA in yards.

Also nominated:

Laurel Conley, a sophomore keeper from Ocean Springs, stopped 10 shots in a 2-0 week for No. 19 Gulf Coast. She had five saves in each game, a 3-1 win over Meridian and 3-2 win at No. 14 Pearl River.

Malorie Gaughf, a freshman middle blocker from Gulfport, had 33 kills and 16 blocks during a 2-2 week.

Cambell Herrington, a freshman defensive specialist from Brandon, had 49 digs and seven aces.

Taurean Davis, a sophomore linebacker from Quitman County, had 13 tackles and an interception in No. 5 Gulf Coast's 40-23 Homecoming win over Southwest Mississippi. He also broke up a pass, helping the Bulldogs hold the Bears to 100 rushing yards, less than half their average.

Jayden Owensby, a freshman from Hernando, finished tied for sixth at the prestigious Folds of Honor Challenge in Michigan. He shot 1-over in the 54-hole event.

Trey Roche, a freshman forward from Pass Christian, had two goals and an assist in a 1-1 week for No. 14 Gulf Coast. He had a goal and set up another in a 6-0 win over Meridian, and one score in a 2-1 loss at No. 13 Pearl River.

Joshua Selmes, a freshman punter from Central Coast, Australia, averaged 50.3 yards on three punts in No. 5 Gulf Coast's 40-23 win over Southwest. Two of his three punts pinned the Bears inside the 20, with one going out of bounds at the five.
