Kaiser repeats as SwingU Player of the Month
PERKINSTON — In the short history of the SwingU College Player of the Month award, there's been only one winner for NJCAA Division II.
Chase Kaiser won it again Wednesday after being announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America as the March recipient.
Kaiser started the month by winning the Warrior Invitational in Philadelphia. He shot 7-under at Dancing Rabbit, leading Gulf Coast to a 43-shot win over the MACCC field.
At the GlenLakes Invitational in Foley, Ala., he shot 3-over to finish fifth, two shots behind NJCAA Division I golfers from Jefferson State and Eastern Florida State. Gulf Coast won that tournament by seven shots over EFSU.
Gulf Coast won the Lou Hart Invitational in Meridian by 21 shots, and Kaiser finished tied for third with a 4-under. Teammate Will Burnham finished four shots better for medalist.
He's also gotten April off to a great start by running away from the field at the MACCC Championship. He shot 10-under par at The Oaks Golf Club in Pass Christian to lead the Bulldogs to a 52-shot win.
The Bulldogs will try to punch their ticket to the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship in Plymouth, Ind., next week at the Gulf District Championship in Natchez. Coincidentally, it's being played at Beau Pre' Country Club, Kaiser's home course.
