No. 15 MGCCC men opens R23 tourney April 20

PERKINSTON — The No. 15 Mississippi Gulf Coast men's tennis team will start the postseason April 20 in Ellisville.

The Bulldogs (11-5, 9-1 MACCC) were conference runners-up and will play as the No. 2 seed against East Central at 1 p.m.

Gulf Coast beat East Central (4-11, 4-6) 9-0 at Perk on Feb. 17. The winner of the match will play the No. 17 Meridian-No. 23 Hinds victor that Friday in the semifinals.

The championship will be played on Saturday at 10 a.m., with the third-place match at 2 p.m. The top three teams automatically qualify for the NJCAA Men's Tennis Championship starting May 15 in McKinney, Texas.

No. 14 Jones plays No. 24 Copiah-Lincoln at the top of the Region 23 bracket, with No. 19 Itawamba and No. 22 Northwest in the other quarterfinal.
