
Bulldog Women start R23 Friday
PERKINSTON — No. 13 Mississippi Gulf Coast will begin play in the NJCAA Region 23 Women's Tennis Championships on Friday at 10 a.m. in Ellisville.
The Bulldogs, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, will play in the semifinals against the winner of Thursday's match third-seeded Hinds and sixth-seeded East Central. Hinds is ranked 16th in the country, while ECCC is 20th.
The finals will be played Saturday at 10 a.m. There will also be a third-place match at the same time, with the top three teams in the tournament advancing to the NJCAA Tournament next month in Mesa, Ariz.
Gulf Coast finished the season 14-3 overall, 11-3 in conference play. Jones is the top-seeded team after winning the MACCC championship. The Bobcats play the winners of Thursday's quarterfinals between four-seed Copiah-Lincoln and five-seed Meridian.
