Menhennett named MACJC Player of the Week
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast third baseman Dylan Menhennett has been named MACJC Player of the Week.
Menhennett, a sophomore from Biloxi, slugged four home runs in five games, driving in 12 runs while batting .583.
Menhennett's first home run came in a 5-0 win over Baton Rouge, and he added two more in an 11-0 victory over Mineral Area.
He hit his third home run in three consecutive at-bats his first time up in the nightcap against MAC, a 14-2 win. Over a stretch of eight plate appearances, he went 5-for-6 with three home runs, a double, a single, a walk and a hit-by-pitch.
It's the second straight weeks the Bulldogs (6-0) have had a Player of the Week winner. Catcher Logan McGrew won it the previous week.
Menhennett is now eligible for the NJCAA Player of the Week award. That award will come out Thursday, a day later than normal because of the Presidents Day holiday.
