
Menhennett, Sanders named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week
PERKINSTON — Dylan Menhennett and Avery Sanders have been named MGCCC Student-Athletes of the Week for Feb. 12-18.
Menhennett, a sophomore third baseman from Biloxi, slugged four home runs in five games, driving in 12 runs while batting .583. Menhennett's first home run came in a 5-0 win over Baton Rouge, and he added two more in an 11-0 victory over Mineral Area. He hit his third home run in three consecutive at-bats his first time up in the nightcap against MAC, a 14-2 win. Over a stretch of eight plate appearances, he went 5-for-6 with three home runs, a double, a single, a walk and a hit-by-pitch.
Sanders, a freshman pitcher from Thibodaux, La., didn't allow a hit in eight scoreless innings of relief work last week, earning a win and a save. She pitched three scoreless innings in a 5-0 win over Baton Rouge, striking out two. Sanders entered a bases-loaded, no-out situation against Enterprise and retired the next batters without allowing a run on the way to five more innings of scoreless relief to get a 3-2 win. She also batted .333 with a double and two RBI in four games.

Cullan O'Shea, a freshman right-hander from Mobile, struck out seven in five innings of a 5-0 win over Baton Rouge. He allowed only two hits.
Jada White, a freshman catcher from Philadelphia, batted .545 and slugged a game-winning home run as Mississippi Gulf Coast went 4-0 on the week. White hit a solo home run in the fifth to give the Lady Bulldogs a 3-2 victory against Enterprise State. She added a double in the second game, a 9-1 win in five innings. White went 3-for-6 with two RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Baton Rouge earlier in the week. (Results: Baton Rouge, W 5-0, W 5-2; Enterprise State, W 3-2, W 9-1)
Dedoch Chan, a freshman forward from Rochester, Minn., extended his streak of games scoring 20-plus points to eight by averaging 28.5 points and 14.5 rebounds as Mississippi Gulf Coast won twice on the road. He poured in 33 points on 12-of-19 shooting and grabbed 17 rebounds in a 72-56 win at Meridian. In a 71-63 win at Jones County, he led a comeback from down 13 with 13 minutes to play and finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
