
Bulldogs lead with 21 on All-MACCC Team
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast led all teams with 21 players named to the All-MACCC South football teams announced by the conference today.
The Bulldogs had eight players named to the First Team, also the most on the division. Defensive lineman Davin Anderson (So., Greenwood/Greenwood), wide receiver Jay Dupree (So., Philadelphia, Miss./Neshoba Central), offensive lineman Greg Nunnery (So., McComb/McComb), offensive lineman Jaekwon Bouldin (So., Gluckstadt/Canton), kicker Gabriel Showalter (So., St. Martin/St. Martin), returner Dayan Bilbo (So., Vancleave/Vancleave), defensive back LaDareyen Craig (So., Mobile, Ala./Baker) and linebacker Wyatt Wright (So., Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge) were all named to the top squad.
Gulf Coast had seven named to the Second Team: defensive lineman Kazarius Bowie (So., Jackson/Brandon), running back Jamari Thompson (So., Pearl/Pearl), running back Trey Hall (Fr., Vicksburg/Warren Central), offensive lineman Joe Bradford (So., Pass Christian/St. Stanislaus), offensive lineman Zerian Hudson (So., Brookhaven/Brookhaven), and defensive back Kionte Curry (So., Mims, Fla./Cocoa).
There are six Bulldogs on the Honorable Mention list: defensive lineman Javen Gibson, quarterback Eli Anderson, tight end Jackson Kostmayer, tight end Bryce Johnson (So., Picayune/Pearl River Central), punter Gabriel Showalter, and linebacker Kevin Larkins.
FIRST TEAM
Anderson had 26 total tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss, three pass breakups and a sack.
WR Jay Dupree
Dupree ranked seventh in the country with 74.2 yards receiving per game, leading Gulf Coast with 48 receptions, 742 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns.
OL Greg Nunnery
Nunnery helped block for the third-leading offense in the country in points (38.4 ppg).
Bouldin helped lead the way for the fifth-ranked offense in the country in total offense (445.8 ypg).
Showalter was fourth in the country in scoring by kickers (75 points) and led the country with 48 extra points at a 100 percent clip.
RET Dayan Bilbo
Bilbo ranked fifth in the country by averaging 10.5 yards per punt return.
Craig had 21 total tackles with two interceptions and four pass breakups.
LB Wyatt Wright
Wright ranked eighth in the country with 82 total tackles, with four tackles for loss and one pass breakup.
SECOND TEAM
Bowie had 35 total tackles with seven tackles for loss, five sacks, one force fumble and one pass breakup.
Thompson ranked fifth in the MACCC with 756 yards rushing. He had four touchdowns and averaged 6.1 yards per carry.
RB Trey Hall
Hall ranked third in the NJCAA by averaging 7.2 yards per carry. He ran for 883 yards and seven touchdowns.
Bradford helped Gulf Coast rank third in the NJCAA with 235.6 yards per game on the ground.
OL Daz Galloway
Galloway blocked for the eighth-ranked offense in the NJCAA with 22 touchdown passes.
Hudson blocked for the fourth-ranked offense in the NJCAA with 26 rushing touchdowns.
DB Kionte Curry
Curry tied for third in the NJCAA with five interceptions, adding 33 total tackles.
HONORABLE MENTION
DL Javen Gibson
Gibson tied for sixth in the country with nine sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss, with 51 total tackles and five pass breakups.
QB Eli Anderson
Anderson ranked seventh in the NJCAA with 20 touchdown passes and eighth by completing 59.5 percent of his passes.
Kostmayer had five catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.
Johnson was a key blocker for an offense that ranked fourth in the country with 26 rushing touchdowns.
Showalter would have ranked in the top 10 in the country in punting average (37.0 ypp) if he had enough punts to qualify. His 12 fair catches were second most in the country.
Larkins tied for 12th in the country with three interceptions, adding 46 total tackles and four tackles for loss.
