Pickering, Dupree named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Morgan Pickering and Jay Dupree have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Sept. 4-10.

Pickering, a sophomore forward from Wiggins, scored in each game as Gulf Coast pushed its winning streak to four games. The Bulldogs beat Southwest Mississippi 2-1, followed by a 2-0 win over East Central.

Dupree, a sophomore wide receiver from Philadelphia, tied a school record with four touchdown receptions in a 49-14 win over No. 3 Northwest Mississippi. He caught six passes for 164 yards, with the final TD being from 79 yards. 

Also nominated:  

Kevin Larkins, a sophomore defensive back from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., had two interceptions against No. 3 Northwest Mississippi. He also had six tackles and two assists, helping hold the Rangers to 334 yards of offense.

David Ruiz Ospina, a freshman from Manizales, Colombia, made seven saves to backstop Mississippi Gulf Coast to a 1-0-1 week. He had two saves in a scoreless Southwest, then made five saves in a 4-1 win over East Central.
