
Anderson, Capiola named Bulldogs of the Week
PERKINSTON — Eli Anderson and Leah Capiola have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Sept. 11-17.
Anderson, a sophomore quarterback from Philadelphia, Miss., engineered a dominant 50-0 Gulf Coast win over Itawamba. He completed 21-of-28 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns. Ten different Bulldogs caught passes.
Capiola, a freshman from Wiggins, had five saves in a 1-0 loss at No. 8 Pearl River.
Also nominated:
David Ruiz Ospina, a freshman from Manizales, Colombia, made five saves to backstop No. 19 Mississippi Gulf Coast to a 4-1 win at Pearl River. He had two saves in a scoreless Southwest, then made five saves in a 4-1 win over East Central.
Victor Moerck, a freshman forward from Vaerloese, Denmark, scored twice in the first half to lead No. 19 Gulf Coast to a 4-1 win at Pearl River. He is second in the MACCC with five goals.
Kionte Curry, a sophomore defensive back from Mims, Fla., had an interception to help key a dominant 50-0 win over Itawamba. He also had four tackles as the Bulldogs held ICC to 48 total yards on 41 plays.
Dayan Bilbo, a sophomore wide receiver from Vancleave, had a 63-yard punt return to open the scoring in Gulf Coast's 50-0 win over Itawamba. He also had a 50-yard return of a free kick following a safety late in the second quarter that set up a short field for a field-goal drive. Bilbo caught one pass for 19 yards.
