United Soccer Coaches to honor Handy
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast men's soccer coach Chris Handy will be picking up a big honor next month in Anaheim, Calif.
Handy will be presented a Letter of Commendation from the United Soccer Coaches at their annual convention, one of only five who will receive the award.
Handy is 134-64-14 in 12 seasons at Gulf Coast. He led the Bulldogs to the MACCC title this year.
The Bulldogs boss has been a member of the organization since 2007. He has been the Junior College Men's Scholar All-America National Chair since its inception in 2013. Under his guidance, the program has risen to prominence and has grown exponentially each year.
Handy's teams have won 10 or more games in nine of the last 11 campaigns. He also served previously on the Junior College Men's All-America Committee under his former Tyler Junior College head coach and Bill Jeffrey Award recipient Steve Clements.
