No. 8 Bulldogs split in Mobile

No. 8 Mississippi Gulf Coast got another split on the road in softball action today in Mobile.

Bishop State won the first game 4-1, but the Bulldogs got a three-hit shutout from Kennedy Brown (Fr., Southaven/Northpoint Christian) in the second game to win 4-0.

Brown improves to 1-1 on the season, and Gulf Coast is now 7-6.

Kate Brannan (Fr., Enterprise/Enterprise) had four hits in the doubleheader, and Grace Allgood (So., Hurley/East Central) had three.

Kat Knight (So., Tupelo/Tupelo) drove in the Bulldogs' only run in the first game with a double.

Kristian Jones (So., Southaven/DeSoto Central) had an RBI single in the fifth, followed by a two-run double by Abbott Stafford (So., Glenmora, La./Glenmora). Abby Vance (So., Calhoun City/Calhoun City) added an RBI single for the final margin.

Gulf Coast will play at Northwest Florida State on Saturday. First pitch in Niceville with be at 1 p.m.
