Flanagan wins MACCC Player of the Week
PERKINSTON — Melvion Flanagan filled it up last week for Mississippi Gulf Coast, and the conference took notice.
The freshman guard from Alexandria, La., won MACCC Player of the Week for his stellar scoring display. He averaged a cool 30.0 points and 5.0 rebounds while playing every minute for the Bulldogs.
In a 69-67 win over Southwest Mississippi, he hit the game-winning layup in the final minute to finish with 27 points. He had 33 points in a 71-63 loss to Hinds.
Flanagan shot 42.1 percent from the 3-point arc.
He's the second Gulf Coast player to win conference honors this season. Anthony Ratliff (So., Jackson/Terry) picked up Player of the Week in February.
Flanagan is now eligible for NJCAA weekly honors.
